When You Can Check IRCTC Ticket Availability ?
Generally IRCTC avails ticket booking 120 days in advance of date of journey. You can check ticket availability for different Quotas:
Normal Reservation Tickets Availability
Normal reservation tickets you can check within 120 days (Effective from 1st April 2015) before of your travel.
IRCTC Tatkal and Premium Tatkal Ticket Availability
Usually Tatkal seats you can check one day before of your journey. Tatkal Reservation might open two or more days in advance if the train departs from your boarding station one day after it begins its journey from its originating station. If you find difficulty getting seats in Tatkal reservation you can also check for premium Tatkal tickets. Premium Tatkal reservation opens same as Tatkal Reservation.
Ladies Quota Tickets Availability
For ladies Indian railway provide special quota in which minimum 6 seats will be available per journey. In this quota tickets will be available 60 days in advance of your journey date.
Ladies quota concept was introduced in 2011. During that time many banks were allowed to offer there special scheme for this ladies quota booking by using credit/debit cards. As per ladies quota rules as name says only girls/ladies are only allowed to travel, as per railway rule if any gents travels in ladies quota then there will be a strict fine. But now a days due to poor maintenance of the IRCTC services all gents are taking the general tickets and getting in inside ladies quota.

- If seat is not available between boarding and destination station, you can try to get confirm seat by extending source stations or by taking reservation from source station.

Steps to check IRCTC Availability (Ticket/Seat Availability)
Go to IRCTC website and log into your account.
Enter Journey Details:
Enter source and Destination station, select date of journey and ticket type. You can also choose ‘Quick book’ option for quick search if you know Train number.
Choose the suitable train from the list
- You need to select the train from list of all trains running between the stations also Select the class for which you want to check Seat availability.
- If seat is not available in general you can also change the quota like Tatkal/Premium Tatkal.
- Once you select the train and class .You will be able to see the available seats for the selected date and next dates.
