Marsh is seeking candidates for the following position that will be located in our Toronto Canada Office.


Senior Coordinator – Accounting Discrepancies

What can you expect?

  • Provide support to Client Facing Brokers in all aspects of fiduciary accounting discrepancies and queries through the timely and efficient research and investigation of our insurance post placement transactions to allow for accurate closure of AR (receivables from clients) and AP (payables to markets).
  • The role will demonstrate increased technical proficiency (with the ability to answer transactional-based questions), leadership skills, issue resolution, and work delegation. Needs to have an understanding of third-party systems, 1st tier issue resolution, accounting queries, and cash management reports to ensure the timely completion of our collections and payment lifecycle.
  • Responsible for quality transactions, seamless client service, and quality of work product. Timely and efficient management/resolution of accounting and cash management queries. Provides administrative support and ensures that communication and process flow between Marsh, brokers, and multiple carriers is timely and consistent from invoicing to collections to payments.

We will rely on you to:

Report Preparation:

Ensure timely and accurate production/processing of:

  • Accounting Queries
  • Cash Management Reports
  • Up-to-date computer system records
  • Current and outstanding documentation follow-ups

Administration and Documentation

  • Responsible for the completion/ resolution of fiduciary accounting discrepancies and queries per established best practices to ensure the timely completion of our collections and payments lifecycle.
  • Timely and efficient research and investigation of our insurance post-placement transactions to allow for accurate closure of AR (receivables from clients) and AP (payables to markets).
  • Ensure timely and accurate production/processing of:
    • Invoices, accounting queries, and related documentation
    • Premium and adjustment calculations
    • Up-to-date computer system records
    • Current and outstanding documentation follow-ups

Technical Support/Coaching

  • Provide coaching and support to Operations and Business teams on documentation and report preparation
  • Act as a mentor to the Operations team to ensure they have a working knowledge of systems and processes
  • Provide assistance to Operations Leadership by acting as a point of escalation as required
  • Identify opportunities for improvement within operational processes and work with colleagues and Operations Leadership to deliver improvements
  • Provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) support and participate in the group, IT, and business lead initiatives.

Workflow Administration

  • Contribute to the achievement of Operations team Service Level Agreements (SLA), Key Performance Indicators (KPI), and business objectives
  • Manage and prioritize own workload to meet individual SLA, KPI, and Quality targets.
  • Processing of complex transactions and resolution of escalated matters within SLA
  • Perform step-up Team Leader duties on an ad-hoc basis to support the Operations team.

Customer Awareness

  • Maintain a basic understanding of the core aspects of relevant Insurance and related legislation
  • Support Senior Account Executives/Principals with the development, implementation, and management of risk management and insurance programs, which accurately address customer needs
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • General servicing skills and etiquette
  • Maintain an awareness of the customer’s business and insurance needs, noting all briefing information provided by the Broking team

Compliance

  • Adhere strictly to the Company’s Quality practices and other systems and procedures
  • Comply fully with the Company’s Errors and Omissions avoidance policy
  • Comply with company policy for continuous professional development
  • Possess a thorough working knowledge of all aspects of the Insurance (Agents & Brokers) Act, Insurance Contracts Act, Fire Services Levy, Stamp Duties, Worker’s Compensation and other relevant legislation

What you need to have:

  • College/university degree or equivalent work experience
  • 2+ years previous work experience in an accounting/billing and collections capacity
  • Ability to interface with colleagues at all levels within the organization
  • Clear and concise oral and written communication skills
  • Strong numerical skills

  • 5+ years of experience in accounting capacity/billing
  • 3+ years in insurance or financial services experience
  • Certification or licenses as required by jurisdictions
  • Excellent organization skills – able to prioritize work and meet deadlines

  • Comfortable and experience working  with technology (solutions)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (or equivalent) – Outlook, Word, and Excel
