The Infrastructure Operations organization is looking for Data Center Technicians to take AWS Data Centre Operations to the next level. The position will help ensure overall availability and reliability to meet or exceed defined service levels of data center operations. This position involves hardware and network diagnostics followed by physical repair and includes participation in an on-call rotation. All candidates should be willing to work both independently and with a team. Work prioritization, organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to react quickly are critical to being successful. In addition to hardware and network repair candidates will install equipment, create documentation, innovate solutions, participate in site-level project work, and fix complex problems within the Data Center Space. This team works in an environment that operates 24/7.
This position requires that the candidateselected obtain and maintain an active Reliability Status security clearance with the Government of Canada.

The Infrastructure Operations organization is looking for a Data Center Technician to take AWS Data Center Operations to the next level. THEposte will ensure overall availability and reliability to meet or exceed defined service levels for data center operations. Thisposte includes diagnostics of computer hardware and networks, as well as physical repair. Thisposte includes participation in a guard rotation. All candidates must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Setting work priorities, organizational skills, effective communication and the ability to react quickly are essential to success. In addition to repairing computer equipment and networks, the candidate will install equipment, produce documentation, provide innovative solutions, participate in projects that span the entire site, and solve complex problems at the data center interior. This team works in a 24/7 environment.
Thisposte requires that the selected candidate obtain and maintain an active reliability status with the Government of Canada.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Basic qualification:
- 2+ years of Computer Hardware, including troubleshooting and repair skills.
- 1+ years of Linux Operating Systems experience.
- 1+ years of Computer Networking experience.
- Experience with Storage Devices.
- Good understanding of scripting languages.
- Candidates should be able to lift up to 50lbs and or work in elevated locations.
- Availability to work in an environment that operates 24/7.
- Ability to work on a rotating shift schedule.
- Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a personal vehicle between company locations regularly.
- Must have the ability to read/write/speak/communicate fluently (English) with respect to complex technical instructions and concepts.
Combasic skills:
- More than two years of experience in the field of computer hardware, including troubleshooting and repair;
- More than one year of experience in Linux operating systems;
- More than one year of experience in computer hardware;
- Experience with data storage devices;
- Valid driver’s license; Thisposte requires regular driving of a personal vehicle between company locations;
- Good understanding of scripting languages;
- The candidate must be able to lift loads of up to22kg (50 lbs) and work in high spaces;
- Be available to work in a 24/7 environment.
- Ability to work on a rotating schedule;
- Ability to read, write, speak and communicate fluently in English using instructions and complex technical concepts.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred qualifications:
- Previous experience working in a Data Center environment (racking & stacking gear, cable management, hot & cold aisle containment);
- Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system;
- Good understanding of Linux or similar Operating Systems;
- Good understanding of network design, protocols and troubleshooting;
- Experience with storage devices;
- Experience in problem solving and addressing customer service related issues by working with the customer and other internal teams;
- A Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent experience in an IT related field.
Comdesired skills:
- Have work experience in a data center environment (construction of racks and equipment storage, cable management, containment in hot and cold aisles);
- Experience in managing work and priorities through a tracking ticket system;
- Good knowledge of Linux or similar operating systems;
- Good knowledge of network design, protocols, and troubleshooting;
- Experience with data storage devices;
- Have experience in resolving and managing customer service issues in collaboration with the customer and with other internal teams;
- Possess a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in an IT-related field.
