Job Description

AWS Professional Services accelerates customer business outcomes by collaborating with customers through work streams to use AWS Services and transform the way they operate or to allow them to expand their business offerings. You will be on teams that are on the front line of helping customers succeed using AWS technologies. You will propose, architect, and implement transformational cloud-based solutions for customers; making customer success a reality using AWS cloud as an enabler and seeing the impact in real-time drives teams to explore new frontiers in leveraging AWS for customers.

The Sr. Customer Delivery Architect (CDA) is a growth role within AWS Professional Services. This is a role where you will follow a qualify-deliver model supporting AWS’ most strategic customers. The CDA partners with AWS Strategic Customer account teams, professional services sales colleagues and AWS offering teams to dive deep with customers and collaborate to develop and close dial-moving proposals, and engages with delivery teams to ensure customer outcomes are met.

You will be in a hybrid role of pre-sales and hands-on delivery assurance. During the sales process, you will primarily be responsible for understanding desired customer business outcomes and defining a high-level solution (which could include a bespoke combination of AWS services and/or pre-existing AWS offerings), and estimating the overall implementation effort. During the delivery phase, you will be responsible for providing oversight to ensure that the development team is delivering the solution as envisioned and engaging as needed to address technical issues and/or proposed scope alterations.

If you combine technical and business acumen, relentlessly focus on business problems and opportunities, and create clarity and focus out of ambiguity, then apply for this position today. It is also important to have a proven track record of developing trust-based relationships with colleagues and/or customers and of delivering IT-enabled outcomes across a variety of complex environments and organizations. The expectation is that you will focus on sales-related activities 25% of the time and on program and project oversight 60% of the time. As this is a customer-facing role, you will be required to travel to client locations to deliver professional services when needed. Travel requirements, on average, will be less than 25%.

Do you have what it takes to bring yourself, your customers, and your team to the next level?

Key job responsibilities

  • Formulate and support the execution of strategies to accelerate customer outcomes through AWS Professional Services engagements so that customer executives clearly realize the financial benefits and transformational value of migrating to AWS or using the AWS platform.
  • Define and execute technical/solution strategies by working with technical and business teams within customers and AWS (Solutions Architects, Technical Account Managers, and consulting/managed services partners).
  • Lead pre-sales architectural discussions and design workshops with customers, and deeply understand customers’ business and technical requirements.
  • Develop Professional Services project proposals and SOW, and collaborate across AWS to develop task plans, effort estimates, staffing plans, and delivery timelines.
  • Guide and manage the delivery of strategic AWS Professional Services engagements leveraging experience in designing, building, and operating global IT infrastructures.
  • Engage and build relationships with customer executives up to C-level to inspire, define and execute Enterprise cloud migration strategies demonstrating thought leadership and a ‘can do approach to enterprise migrations, working backward from customer needs.
  • Author or otherwise contribute to AWS customer-facing publications such as whitepapers and proof of concepts.
  • Capture and share best-practice knowledge, sales, and delivery content amongst the AWS Professional Services community.
