Accounting Coordinator

The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria is located just 20 minutes from downtown Victoria in a beautiful park-like setting. It is the largest public art gallery on Vancouver Island and one of the most significant in Canada with its important collection of visual and decorative arts.

The Gallery currently has an opening for an Accounting Coordinator. The primary functions of this position are to perform all day-to-day accounting, payroll and benefits administration tasks and handle all relevant payable, receivable, payroll and tax receipt inquiries, both internal and external; as well, be responsible for general office tasks.

Excellent organizational and communication skills and the ability to prioritize tasks, exercise good initiative and judgement are required. We are looking for a bright and enthusiastic individual who can prioritize and be relied on do things efficiently and accurately, including handling confidential information and compliance administration.

The successful candidate will have a degree, technical certifications with major course work in accounting, or a related field or equivalent experience. 2-3 years’ experience with accounting software, preferably SAGE, and payroll preparation and reconciliations are also required.

This position is a 35-hour per week role. Work can be completed in office on set days of the week with the potential for remaining work to be completed remotely.
