Overall Accountability

The Labourer is accountable for performing all general construction and landscape maintenance at various schools and worksites as scheduled by the Assistant Supervisor, Maintenance, in accordance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and the District’s Occupational Health and Safety practices and procedures.

Specific Accountabilities

Under the direction of the Assistant Supervisor, Maintenance:

• Performs general construction duties and landscaping maintenance
• Performs light equipment repair and maintenance
• Safely moves equipment and supplies
• Operates District vehicles and equipment in a safe and efficient manner
• Oversees the work performed by the Summer Grounds Maintenance Student Workers
• Performs other duties as may be required by the Assistant Supervisor, Maintenance

Qualifications

• High school diploma
• General horticultural and arbour care experience
• Experience with light equipment maintenance preferred
• Valid Alberta Drivers’ License Class 5
• Demonstrated communication skills
• Successfully complete a physical demands analysis
• Must be self-motivated with the ability to work with minimum supervision
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
