Camosun College
Instructor – Mechanical Engineering
The School of Trades and Technology seeks applications from qualified candidates to teach one or more of the following courses:
ENGR-175 – Engineering Mechanics
Introduction to engineering mechanics. Dealing with equivalent force systems, conditions for equilibrium: statics of rigid bodies, frames and machines; extension of the application of free body diagrams to complex structures; reactions at supports; two-dimensional force analysis of trusses using methods of joints and sections; three dimensional vector analysis of forces and moments. Focus on interpreting and solving engineering mechanics problems in a clear and concise manner.
MENG-275 – Computational Modelling and Vibrations
Students will be introduced to computational modelling methods used to simulate and solve complex engineering problems. Simulations for parts and assemblies will include stress, vibration and thermal analysis using finite element analysis (FEA) methods, and fluid analysis using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) methods. The course will also introduce vibration analyses of linear systems and, free and forced excitation of single-degree-of-freedom systems. Practical applications and case studies will be emphasized using commercially available software
MENG-245 – Manufacturing Processes 3 and Quality Control
Students will be introduced to manufacturing processes including welding and composites. Corrosion protection methods will be discussed. Quality control methods will also be introduced.
Qualifications:
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology plus 2 years of recent and relevant work experience and,
2 years recent work experience in a teaching, leadership; coaching; and/or mentoring role
A provincial instructor diploma is an asset
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
