Accountable to: General Manager/ Registered Manager

Job Purpose:

To provide residents with the highest standard of care in relation with the Home’s policies and procedures and each individual care plan;

Statement of Purpose/Philosophy of Care:

At Chilton Croft Nursing Home, we place our Residents at the forefront.

General duties:

· Help residents socialise within the care setting and encourage them to maintain their independence and previous hobbies wherever possible;

· Demonstrate a genuine interest in working with the elderly(show empathy, respect and promote dignity and independence) and contribute to the role of a key worker for a group of residents;

· Encourage family and friends to participate in the Home’s activities and events;

· Help to create an atmosphere that suits the individual(s);

· Help residents with their activities of daily living(i.e. washing and dressing, eating and drinking, mobility and physical comfort) whilst observing and reporting any specific changes as a part of the on-going assessment;

· Provide drinks and snacks for residents and their visitors;

· Provide/assist residents with meals, following Food Hygiene regulations;

· Keep residents’ rooms and wardrobes clean and tidy at all times;

· Encourage residents to participate in activities organised in-house;


· Be polite and helpful to residents and visitors;

· Clean and maintain equipment used by residents (spectacles, hearing aids, pressure cushions, wheelchairs, reclining chairs, beds, tables, bedside tables etc);

· Support professionals with clinical activities (wound care, dressings, catheter change as required;

· Whenever on night duty, ‘Night staff job rota’ will add to roles and responsibilities;

Training and development

· Attend all supervisions and staff meetings organised by the Home;

· Undertake QCF training as required;

· Attend all trainings organized by the Home; when training is advertised, you are expected to attend; Non-attendance to mandatory trainings will impact on the employer’s ability to retain you in employment.

· Adopt a clean and tidy appearance(black trousers and black flat sole shoes)wearing the uniform supplied by the Home;

Integrity

· Maintain full, accurate, contemporaneous and legible records of all the care provided;

· Work collaboratively with all members of staff;

· Check the duty roster and follow allocations at all times;

Health and Safety

· Contribute to effective and efficient use of resources including safe use, checking and maintenance of equipment;

· Ensure all emergencies, incidents, accidents and complaints are responded to and reported in accordance with the Home’s policies and procedures;

· Keep up-to-date with the Home’s development and changes;

· Promote and ensure the good reputation of the Home at all times;

· Comply proactively with your duties and follow the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 as detailed in the Health and Safety policy of the Home.

· Undertake reasonable extra responsibilities as required;

Confidentiality

In the course of your duties, you will have access to confidential material about the residents, staff and the Home. You must not divulge any personal/confidential information via telephone or any other forms of electronic devices/social media. You must not discuss any confidential information about the residents or about the Home outside Chilton Croft unless authorised to do so by the management. Breach of confidentiality will be taken seriously by the Home management.

  • Care home: 1 year (preferred)
