Graphic Designer
The Graphic Designer – International Programs successfully meets MSU International Programs’ graphic design, logo, and branding objectives by providing exceptional digital, print, and web design that is on time, on target, and within the departmental budget. The Graphic Designer – International Programs is responsible for the design, development, creation, and production of marketing and promotional materials as requested by MSU International Programs, including brochures, flyers, advertisements, etc. The Graphic Designer – International Programs guides social media marketing for MSU International Programs’ social media pages, which may include content writing and providing cover and post images. The Graphic Designer – International Programs will also be directly involved in idea generation discussions related to branding initiatives across various marketing and social channels highlighting MSU International Programs’ activities and special events. The Graphic Designer – International Programs works in a team-oriented environment, with a strong customer service philosophy, working cooperatively with team members and giving and receiving appropriate, constructive feedback, while meeting the department’s graphic and visual communication needs.
Description of Primary Duties

The Graphic Designer – International Programs is responsible for the design, development, creation, and production of marketing and promotional materials as requested by MSU International Programs, including brochures, flyers, advertisements, etc. The Graphic Designer – International Programs guides social media marketing for MSU International Programs’ social media pages, which may include content writing and providing cover and post images. The Graphic Designer – International Programs will also be directly involved in idea generation discussions related to branding initiatives across various marketing and social channels highlighting MSU International Programs’ activities and special events. Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, or a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with an emphasis in Graphic Design or a related field is required. A Master’s degree in Graphic Design, Marketing, or Applied Communication is preferred. An equivalent combination of years of experience and education may be considered for substitution of educational requirements.
Experience: At least three years of experience in graphic design is required. Experience in digital marketing or graphic design work for higher education institutions is preferred. Experience using industry standard graphic design software including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom, Premiere, Muse, After Effects, and Dreamweaver is required.
Skills: Must be able to demonstrate digital and print design competency with a portfolio. Demonstrated talent as a designer is required. Experience and proficiency using Microsoft Office software is required, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Demonstrated experience and proficiency using Adobe products is required, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, and Creative Suite. Time management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks with deadlines are required. Excellent writing, proofreading, communication, and interpersonal skills are required. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required. Experience and understanding of how to utilize social media platforms for marketing purposes is preferred. Knowledge of the communications field, traditional and digital advertising, email marketing, and content creation is preferred. Demonstrated hands-on experience with logo design, typography, color theory, print production, image selection, and short video production is preferred.
