Job Description

Higher ED Jobs Philadelphia, Bartenders mix, garnish and serve beverages and food to customers. They may also be known as barkeeps or mixologists. You will also upsell items, create recipes, utilize proper equipment and ingredients, and handle basic cleaning duties.

We are looking for a professional, high-energy bartender with excellent communication skills to serve classical cocktails and exciting new beverages to our customers. The bartender will greet customers, learn about their preferences, answer questions, recommend menu items, and prepare and serve beverages and food.

About Organization

Opened by Robert Porter and Barbara Carter, Bob & Barbara’s Lounge has been a South Street staple since. Known widely for free live music, Philly’s longest-running drag show, and “The Special”, Bob & Barbara’s Lounge carries on the party started by the original owners. For decades, the legendary Nate Wiley and the Crowd Pleasers served up their brand of “Liquor Drinkin’ Music” every Friday and Saturday Night.

After Nate’s passing in, a variety of Philly’s best jazz players have picked up the torch to keep the crowds moving every Friday and Saturday night. These days, the reformed Crowd Pleasers band plays every Friday night and Kelvin Nathaniel and The 3 Notes fill the Saturday Nightspot.

Both bands take full advantage of the Hammond B-3 Organ that gives the weekend nights at Bob & Barbara’s their distinctive jazzy sound. In, Rick Dobrowolski (Rick D.) was booking live music on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Rick suggested that the bar sell a can of Pabst Blue Ribbon and a shot of Jim Beam bourbon together and call it “The Special”.

Responsibilities 

• Taking inventory and ordering supplies to ensure bar and tables are well-stocked.
• Adhering to all food safety and quality regulations.
• Handling cash, credit, and debit card transactions, ensuring charges are accurate, and returning correct change to patrons, balancing the cash register.
• Maintaining a clean work and dining area by removing trash, cleaning tables, and washing glasses, utensils, and equipment.
• Developing new cocktail recipes.
