Head HSE & S – Fertilizer Business

In continuation of our vision of being into the phosphatic fertilizer business in the state of Rajasthan for the next phase of growth at HZL, it is important to have the right leadership in place to drive the business case, project cost control, marketing and operational plans. Hence, to strengthen this objective, we are inviting applications for the position of Head HSE & S.

Roles & Responsibilities:

1. HSE Planning & Governance

• Drive development and socialization of HZL Environment, Health and Safety policies/ procedures across the organization
• Influence and ensure visible felt leadership is demonstrated through Exco and Leadership teams across business.
• Continuous training and development plan evolving HSE framework to all employees and contractors.
• Ensure crafting of standards and procedures for HZL on all high-risk activities, Environmental issues and Health
• Benchmark Safe Work Procedures and safety standards for improvement and revision
• Ensure Governance of safety management system journey through CSC and Corporate subcommittees.

2. HSE Assessment and Audits

• Align practices with the group and company HSE policies and local laws and ensure appropriate environmental compliance
• Support the training of employees on HSE systems work practices and procedures, as well as the DuPont system, as required
• Lead the analysis and ensure statistical representation of HSE trends (gauge site health, safety and environment KPIs), while suggesting improvement plans, as required
• Ensure the maintenance of accident/ incident data
• Lead the development and introduction of proficient HSE auditing system i.e. process safety, behavior-based audits, risk management, internal/ external DuPont audits etc.
• Keep track of Online continuous emission monitoring system data and continuously strive for compliance.

3. Operational monitoring and risk management

• Identify potential hazards in operations and projects and suggest appropriate control measures to minimize risks.
• Provide methods, tools and advice for Health & Safety improvement
• Ensure onsite/ offsite emergency exercises, fire drills, mock safety drills to check the effectiveness of rescue operations, and to create awareness amongst employees/ labour
• Analyze implications of project and operational processes at project sites on the environment and directing preventive measures
• Conduct QRA studies as required for Risk Management.
• Direct the safety implementation through 6 sub-committees including safety interaction, Incident management, Process safety management, Standard rules & procedures, FSIPP and Contractor safety

4. Sustainability

• Drive sustainability as integral part in all business decision making through sustainability committees.
• Mandatory External Communication on sustainability of business through sustainability reporting
• Ensure participation in various programs like CDP, UNDP, DJSI, FTSE for communication and brand building of company.
• Comply with plastic waste management rules.
• Comply with decarbonization plan / rules as per GOI
• To work closely on ESG framework objectives for Fertilizer business
• Assurance of sustainability data related to HZL
• Recognition to company on HSE and sustainability initiatives in prestigious forums.

5. Team development

• Identify right talent for various positions within own team
• Establish individual performance expectations and regularly review individual performance of the team
• Support team members in delivering their responsibilities and resolve their concerns/ challenges, if any

Skills & Knowledge:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Science along with diploma in industrial safety & environment
• Overall experience of 20+ years in an HSE role
• Hands-on experience in all key HSE management systems and processes e.g.
• DuPont Process Safety Management, ISO 9001; 14001 & OHSAS 18001, behavior-based safety, process hazard analysis, incident investigation etc.
