Clinic Details — Royal Inland Hospital:

The Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) is a 258-bed facility that serves as the referral center for approximately 250,000 people and is located in the Thompson Cariboo Shuswap Health Service Area. As one of two Interior Health tertiary referral hospitals, RIH is a no-refusal center with an Emergency Department that receives over 250 major trauma and 72,000 visits per year.

Kamloops offers high-level, specialty medical care including core physician specialties, 24-hour Emergency and Trauma Services, Ambulatory and Outpatient Clinics, and Diagnostic Services Support services including a full complement of diagnostic equipment, a Clinical Neurophysiology Lab and Sleep Lab, 1.5T MRI, two CT scans, and Echocardiography. RIH also features Stroke Thrombolysis, and provincial Tertiary Neuropsychiatry Programs. RIH is the regional base for the six-person, 24-hour High Acuity Response Team (HART) that is utilized in remote emergency transport situations. Surgical services include General Surgery, Neurosurgery, Vascular Surgery, Otolaryngology, Ophthalmology, Plastic Surgery, Urology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and 24/7 Anesthesia coverage.

Practice Details:

We are seeking a full-time General Cardiologist to join our team at Royal Inland Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a unique niche setting and practice great medicine with lots of support. RIH sees over 1,500 patients in our emergency with cardiac-related conditions. Our vascular improvement clinic and Heart function clinic offer hospital-based outpatient services. Physician Services provides a full in-patient admitting and consultative service including Holter monitoring, ECGs and loop recording service, heart function clinic, exercise stress testing, nuclear medicine support, cardiac CT, and MRI support.

The RACE and Pacemaker clinics operate in the new state-of-the-art Clinical Services Building at RIH which opened. The 4-bed CCU was With the recruitment of additional physicians, we will be expanding a community private consulting practice. In the future, there is an opportunity to develop an outreach service to more remote communities. This is a great opportunity for any Cardiologists who are passionate about a strong culture of teamwork and patient-centered care. In addition to our ability to continuously develop our skills, we are a training site for medical students and residents going through their programs through UBC’s Southern Medical Program.

Qualifications:

  • Eligible for Fellowship with the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC)
  • Doctorate in Medicine
  • Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)mandatory; Provisional licensure with CPSBC will be considered.
