Full Job Description

Kindling will feature a large wood-burning grill and wood-fired rotisserie that will serve as the hearth and the heart of the restaurant’s main floor. The kitchen will be helmed by James Beard winning chef, Jonathon Sawyer!


A Barback is responsible for keeping the bar clean at all times. They must be able to lift full kegs, restock beer, liquor, and wine. Barbacks assist Bartenders in taking care of guests.

Essential Functions:

  • Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the restaurant Manager or immediate Supervisor
  • Comply with health and food safety standards, restocking items and sanitation
  • Ability to stand/walk a minimum of 8 hours or as needed
  • Must be able to exert well-paced and frequent mobility for periods of up to 8 hours or as needed
  • Be able to lift up to 100 pounds frequently
  • Multi-level facility; must efficiently manage walking up/down stairs for up to 8 hours or as needed
  • Will frequently reach, bend, stoop, carry, finely manipulate and key in data
  • Work in both warm and cool environments
  • High levels of noise from music, Guest and Employee traffic

Responsibilities and Key Duties:

  • Bring waters to each guest when they are seated at the bar and refill as needed
  • Clear plates and silverware after appetizers and reset the bar guest with new plates and silverware after each course
  • Answer questions about craft beer, food, allergies, and cocktails
  • Assist the restocking and replenishment of bar inventory and supplies
  • Assist the Bartenders throughout the course of the guests stay and help in anyway necessary to ensure a positive guest experience
  • Must have an understanding of different styles of beer
  • High volume work experience is preferred
  • Must be able to restock kegs and liquor bottles
  • Maintain cleanliness in all areas of the bar including counters, menus, computer, shelves and storage areas
  • Receive and serve food orders to guests seated at the bar

Qualifications, Education and Behavior:

  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Have a minimum of 6 months experience
  • Ability to work quickly while maintaining safety standards and procedures
  • Ability to properly handle a knife, confidently
  • Ability to work Holidays, weekends and late nights
  • Ability to work a consistent schedule at least 4 days per week
  • Food Handler’s Certificate
  • BASSETT
