Under the general direction of the Financial Advisory Services Supervisor (AP&D/CFO), will provide professional expertise in the
areas of operating and capital budget development, perform financial analysis and establish and monitor financial controls.
Additionally, this position will work closely with internal customers to provide financial guidance and support in achieving Divisional,
Business Unit and Corporate objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the development of operating and capital budgets
  • Provide expert advice to management on financial and accounting matters through financial analysis and interpretation of results to help drive business decisions
  • Analyze, monitor, and report on capital and operating performance on an ongoing basis, identifying trends and variances and guide management to ensure the attainment of financial targets
  • Prepare and present financial reports, including monthly, quarterly and annual reports to management team
  • Ensure adequate financial controls and reporting systems are designed, developed and maintained to meet management needs
  • Review capital approval documents and operational business cases to ensure financial analysis is reasonable & reflects all costs, that the recommendation and justification are comprehensive and that the expenditure is in line with the strategic priorities of the Corporation
  • Prepare specialized reports related to managerial, financial and accounting issues, agreements and topics, including recommendations and analysis of alternatives for management consideration

Qualifications:

  • A Professional Accounting designation (CPA) and two years of experience
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills and proven ability to establish and maintain successful working relationships with staff at all levels
  • Comprehensive knowledge of financial and cost accounting principles and practices
  • Ability to effectively communicate detailed accounting information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
  • Advanced working knowledge of financial systems including SAP, Business Warehouse, BPS and C55 systems would be considered an asset
  • Proficient with Microsoft suite of products with a high level of expertise in Excel spreadsheets
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a variety of team settings
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment with a focus on delivering high quality work within specified timelines
  • Self-motivated with a high degree of initiative and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
