About the role
In this role, you will perform routine Blood Group Serology (BGS), Serological Transmissible Diseases (TD), and/or Nucleic Acid Transmissible Diseases (NAT) testing by following operating procedures and recording all related quality control/assurance activities. You will perform routine maintenance and verification of laboratory equipment in accordance with approved work instructions to meet regulatory requirements. As well as participate in ongoing quality improvement activities, maintain technical competency, promote continuous learning and provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.

Responsibilities include:
- Performs routine BGS and/or TD and/or NAT testing, following operating procedures
- Performs and records all BGS and/or TD and/or NAT testing-related quality control/assurance activities
- Performs routine maintenance and verification of laboratory equipment in accordance with approved work instructions to meet regulatory requirements
- Maintains and provides excellent customer service to internal and external customers
- Maintains technical competency and promotes continuous learning
- Participates in ongoing quality improvement activities
- Participates in special projects as assigned
- Performs and participates in generalized department operations
- Performs other related duties as required
Required Skills:
- Certified general registered Medical Laboratory Technologist with CMLTA
- Transfusion Medicine/Red Cell Serology work experience is an asset
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to foster and maintain the positive public image of Canadian Blood Services when dealing with customers
- Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to set priorities and manage multiple tasks
- Must be detail-oriented and capable of working in a highly regulated environment
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to operate related equipment, including a working knowledge of software applications in a Windows environment
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the job
