About the Role
As a 12-month intern with Quilter Cheviot, you will gain invaluable hands-on experience in the world of investment management. Over the course of the internship, you will have the opportunity to rotate through 5 different departments, providing you with a well-rounded understanding of the various functions of the company. You will be exposed to daily tasks and responsibilities, as well as working on challenging ad-hoc projects, allowing you to put your skills and knowledge into practice. Some of the teams you will be joining are:
Front Office – the face of the company, responsible for interacting with clients, managing investments, and making strategic financial decisions.
In our Front Office teams, you will play a crucial role in supporting our Investment Managers. Your responsibilities will include assisting with portfolio reviews, day-to-day administration support, documenting client relationships, and preparing client presentations and reports. You may also have the opportunity to arrange and attend investment meetings with our clients.
Business Development – responsible for driving growth and expanding our reach to new and existing intermediary clients.
You will work closely with our nationwide sales and distribution teams to support with the information they need to drive new business opportunities. Your responsibilities will include collating information on Quilter Cheviot’s products and services and arranging meetings with new potential advisers, assisting with the administration and distribution of materials, messaging and information and being involved in distribution events and activities where appropriate.
Marketing – responsible for building and promoting our brand and driving awareness and engagement with existing and new clients.
Working with our Marketing team will involve a mix of responsibilities such as assisting with the delivery of campaigns, events and sponsorships, generating content, and producing literature and digital marketing material to support business growth. You will also assist in coordinating day-to-day marketing activities and projects.
Research – responsible for analysing financial markets, identifying investment opportunities and making recommendations to our Front Office teams.
Providing overall support to our Research teams, responsibilities include assisting with stock and fund analysis and supervised stock and fund research, developing and distributing research material and presentations, and ad-hoc administrative duties.
Operations – responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of our operations, including trade processing and settlements.
Beyond trade processing the wider operations department consists of Valuations, Records, CASS Governance, Custody (processing client joiners and leavers) ISA Administration, Dividends, Corporate Actions, Operational Tax, MPS Administration and Cashiering.
Each team has its own unique responsibilities to support the wider business. Example responsibilities include valuing financial instruments, maintaining accurate records of transactions and investments, protecting client entitlements, transferring client assets into and out of the firm, ensuring compliance with CASS rules and regulations and monitoring and resolving settlement issues.

About You
Our internships are open to everyone, and you do not need to have a degree to apply. However, we do ask that all our Interns are willing to study towards industry specific qualifications and as part this role will be supported in obtaining Unit 1of the CISI Investment Operations Certificate, the ‘Introduction to Securities and Investment.
Our Trainee Investment Managers are required to study towards a Level 7 (Masters equivalent) qualification to be certified in their role, therefore it is also asked that our internship candidates would be interested in studying towards this qualification in the longer term.
