Riverford Organic Farmers Ltd
Seasonal Farm Supervisor
Full Job Description
Work with us at Riverford, and join a thriving employee-owned business
- Be part of a friendly, engaging and committed Farm team.
- Lots of opportunities to learn, grow, and progress in your career.
- We’ll give you an abundance of free organic fruit and veg, an annual tax-free co-owner bonus, and a bounty of benefits
More than just a veg box….
Riverford are mad about organic veg. It’s at the core of everything we do. We love to grow it, pack it into boxes, and deliver it to around 70,000 homes across the UK every week.
This takes loads of brilliant people – and working here makes you a ‘co-owner’, since Riverford is employee owned. Success means much more than just profits; we want this to be a place people enjoy coming to work, and a business our co-owners feel proud of!
In 2021, we were delighted to be awarded two-star Best Companies accreditation, recognising Riverford as an ‘outstanding’ place to work.
What you’ll be doing…
We’re looking for a Farm Supervisor to lead a team in hand-picking a variety of seasonal veg across the growing Season, general outdoor field work, and other tasks include manual planting, moving crop covers, hoeing, weeding, and occasionally helping in our polytunnels at peak times or working on our machine planter.
You’ll be a great people-person, motivating and coaching your team to achieve what they need to every day. Working conditions will be variable – in beautiful Devon countryside, but only sometimes beautiful weather! – and you may have inexperienced members in your team who need a bit of extra support. This will take someone well organised, great at planning and prioritising, reliable, hard-working, and confident at communicating.
Skills & experience…
- Ideally, experience of supervising a team in an agricultural setting
- Able to be hands on with the team, working with them and setting a good work rate, as well as organising and keeping an eye on the quality of the work
- Full driving license
What are the hours? The role is 39 hours per week, with some overtime. Normal hours are 6.45am-3pm Monday-Friday (usually an hour earlier in the summer, half an hour later in the winter).
Location Based at Wash Farm, Buckfastleigh, Devon, TQ11 0JU
Riverford is a beautiful place to work, with lots of great people – and other perks too. Some of our benefits include: 33 days holiday pro rata (including bank holidays), generous company pension scheme, annual profit share (10% of all our profits are split equally between all co-owners), time and half on bank holidays and when working over 39 hours per week, 2 volunteer days a year, free organic grade out fruit and veg and free parking.
