About the Role – The purpose of this role is to ensure that district’s solid waste services are effectively delivered to agreed levels of service, that the Solid Waste collection and disposal is effectively managed, and specific projects/tasks and works are carried out as directed by Network Team Leader.
Do you have what it takes? – This is a busy role and if you want variety, this role has it including managing the general day to day operation and maintenance of the district’s solid waste, closed landfill and transfer station facilities, ensuring solid waste data is readily available for the analysis of the services, devising and formulating new systems for effective solid waste management and devising and formulating public awareness programmes. It is also responsible for administering and managing service contracts, processing of monthly contract payments, and assisting the Network Team Leader in preparation of Annual Plan and Long-Term Plan budgets and planning.
About You – You will be adaptable with a ‘can-do’ attitude, have a good grasp of modern technology such as computers and instrumentation and be capable of dealing with a wide variety of operating or process systems. Together with your experience in planning, managing solid waste service delivery, you will have the technical skills and knowledge relating to contract management and experience in local Government. You will have an understanding of NZS 3910:2003 Conditions of contract for building and civil engineering construction and/or NZS 3917:2013 Conditions of contract for building and civil engineering – fixed term, or any other recognised tertiary qualification.
The ability to work independently with minimal supervision is required and a full or restricted clean valid driver’s license is essential for this role.
The salary range for this position is between $65,150pa and $72,400pa. The appointed starting level will be dependent on skills and experience and will be discussed during interviews with shortlisted candidates.
