Full Job Description
Job Summary:
As a News Reporter, you will be responsible for gathering, investigating, and reporting news stories to the public through various media outlets such as newspapers, TV, radio, and online platforms. You will work closely with editors, producers, and other newsroom staff to produce engaging, accurate, and informative content.
Job Responsibilities:
- Gather and verify information through interviews, research, and observation.
- Write news articles, reports, and features for publication on various media platforms.
- Work with editors to develop story ideas and angles that will capture the interest of the public.
- Attend press conferences, events, and other public gatherings to gather news and report on developments.
- Report breaking news and deliver news updates in a timely manner.
- Conduct investigative reporting to expose wrongdoing or uncover newsworthy stories.
- Develop and maintain relationships with sources in order to obtain exclusive stories and information.
- Stay up-to-date with current events, trends, and issues that are relevant to the public.
- Collaborate with photographers, videographers, and other newsroom staff to create multimedia content.
- Adhere to ethical and legal standards in reporting and use of sources.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communication, or related field.
- Previous experience in news reporting, preferably in a professional newsroom setting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong research and investigative skills.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and deliver accurate, engaging content.
- Knowledge of media law, ethics, and standards.
- Familiarity with multimedia storytelling techniques and tools.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work outside regular business hours as needed.
