Summary:

Duties Basic Function of the Position: The incumbent serves as Safety Program Coordinator/ Compliance Officer with responsibility for assisting the Post Occupational Safety and Health Officer (POSHO)in carrying out the day-to-day functions of the Safety and Health Environmental Management (SHEM) and Fire Protection Division (FIR) programs at the Embassy as required. S/he assures that all government-owned and leased property meets the requirements as required. S/he will conduct numerous safety surveys, prepare reports, and conduct follow-up inspections to ensure compliance. S/he will maintain a statistical database and hazardous materials inventory.

S/he will act as the Post-fire warden and organize and assist Post Fire Marshals in executing fire drills, investigating, and reporting to Washington on fires at the Embassy. S/he will correct all infractions found by OBO/SHEM, OBO/FIR, AIS, and other investigations. S/he will be responsible for the Mission pest control and serve as the contracting office representative (COR) on the pesticide application contract. S/he will report to the Senior Facilities Manager through the American A/POSHO and sits as a member of the Post’s Safety, Health, and Environmental Management Committee. The incumbent will also perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements: / EXPERIENCE:

The position requires three years of experience as an Industrial Hygienist or in the maintenance field performing/coordinating repairs of large facilities, or in the field of occupational safety, health, and environmental management. Education Requirements:

The position requires completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene or a Bachelor in Technology or Engineering degree in the following fields: Environmental Safety or Environmental Planning or Resource Management Environmental Sciences Environmental Law or Ecology Environment and Sustainable Development.

Benefits: Agency Benefits:

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in New Delhi, India may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits. For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office. The pay plan is assigned at the time the conditional offer letter is issued by the HR Office.
