Duties:


Typical duties may include the following: providing pick-up and delivery service between University departments and throughout the Bay Area; moving furniture; lofting residence hall beds, as requested; executing special events set-ups; maintaining storage areas; maintaining furniture inventories, including classrooms and residence halls; keeping parking lots clean; emptying campus trash and recycling containers; operating garbage truck and compactors in the collection of campus dumpsters.

Additional Responsibilities:

Safe driving of University vehicles, including larger vehicles, especially in tight situations and on-campus amid University pedestrian traffic.

Safe lifting and moving of University goods and furnishings, including much of what is received through the University Receiving Department, and University furniture of all shapes and sizes. Must be able to maneuver fully loaded hand trucks and dollies without damage to walls, stairwells, doors and door frames. Must be able to negotiate stairs carrying such items.

Must be able to execute work orders in a timely fashion and in a safe and expedient way.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must possess the ability to follow written and oral instructions with some latitude for independent judgment and action. Must possess the physical characteristics to perform the duties of the job, including sufficient strength to safely move 60 pounds in a timely and efficient manner.

Must be willing to work in a variety of weather conditions. Must be able to work effectively with members of the University Community. A California driving license and a satisfactory driving record is required. Requires Completion of four years of high school and some related work experience.
